Boston Private is a leading private banking group based in Boston, Massachusetts in the USA which provides digital banking, residential and private lending, wealth planning, investment management, retirement plan advisory, and trust services to customers throughout the United States.

The new downtown San Francisco branch of Boston Private is located on the ground floor of 255 Battery Street, replacing the earlier office on California Street. The 1,100 sm interior design project was conceived to impart an ambiance of restrained elegance and subdued luxury to the guests and customers of this hallowed financial institution. The metaphor of transparency is expressed in the full-height glazing of the street-front and of meeting rooms within. Lighting was subdued and warm to highlight key rooms. The project comprises a front reception/lounge area framed by consultation rooms and a back-of-house area for private offices, storage, IT support and workrooms.The project was undertaken in 2018 in collaboration with MKThink Architects of San Francisco.

VERITAS Architects Kuala Lumpur, VERITAS Interiors and VERITAS Landscape collaborated with VERITAS Architects Australia to design a major expansion of the existing Thomson Hospital to cater for the growth of the hospital and provide a greater range of specialist services.

Located on a highly visible site, the design maximises the prominence of the hospital to optimise exposure to the public. Pedestrian access from the adjoining educational campuses, residential precincts, and the MRT station has been provided.

The expansion programme accommodates four main components – additional specialist clinics, oncology centre, expanded operating theatre complex and signifacntly expanded hospital ward accommodation. A multilevel carpark has been incorporated to accommodate the large carparking requirement. A range of retail and food & beverage outlets provided to support needs of patients, visitors and staff.

The new wing significantly develops the existing clinical services, increases inpatient capacity and critical care facilities from 200 to 400 beds and doubles the number of operating theatres. The new wing also caters to centres of excellence for Cardiac Services and Catheterization, Endoscopy, Chemotherapy, Women’s and Men’s Health, Rehabilitation and Wellness department.

A contemporary rectilinear approach is adopted to create a landmark destination and to express the progressive values of the hospital. Efficient space planning has been applied to ensure a cost-effective design solution that also provides flexibility to cater to future medical services.

The design of the new THDK wing optimises site usage and integrates the existing hospital yet still provides future proofing by allocating part of the remaining site for further development.

Green Office Park 6 is an office building located in Green Office Park, a 25ha development within the BSD district offering a park-like ambiance and comprising of 11 five-storey buildings.

The main space of the project is a 5-storey atrium space, richly immersed in natural sunlight under a glazed roof. Reception and meeting spaces are located at the ground level of this atrium. An iconic grand staircase dominates the volume, pivoting on a black granite water feature. Its outer facing surfaces are fully cladded in copper and its bold appearance and scale definitely demand attention from all angles of the atrium. The Client for the project was Sinarmas Land and it was completed in 2015.

VERITAS Interiors and VERITAS Architects Penang collaborated with JKR Penang to restore and upgrade the Residence of the Governor of Penang, an important heritage building on the island.

The history of Seri Mutiara, as the building is known, dates back to 1888, when a decision was made to build the official residence of the Resident Councilor of Penang on the site in front of the Polo Ground in Georgetown. Seri Mutiara was at that time known as the Residency. The grounds surrounding it today are immaculately kept. It is also home to several very interesting trees, forming a mini botanic garden which, unfortunately, is not open to the public.

The residence accommodates the family of the Governor as well as spaces for official entertainment. The interior design concept of the residence stayed true to the British Colonial character of the building with a few modern touches such as the kitchen and living spaces. Monochromatic tiles and marble juxtaposed against crisp white wainscoting and gold chinoiserie are just some examples of the restoration within this beautiful home.

Interior Design for Boutique Hotel and Resort by VERITAS Architects in partnership with Privehotels Group for Charm Group JSC, tailored for the local market. The resort features 900 rooms, including a mix of deluxe, superior rooms, and serviced apartments. In the initial phase of our collaboration with the investors, our Vietnam office crafted designs for two types of rooms.

SPATIAL DESIGN

One of the key challenge of the design is the spatial arrangement of the layout. The design brief we received from the developer was to re-arrange nearly 10,000 m2 retail space on 3 levels of the shopping mall. The tenancy are was preliminary booked by an international retail giant who stepped back due to economy reason. The owner of the development decided to take over the leasing of the area and start recruiting tenants. The business model has changed and the pocket space which was originally allocated for the retail giant seemed to be not attractive enough for single brands. VERITAS Architects received the design task to arrange the leasing lots, a mixture of enclosed shops and open kiosks to maximize the visibility and the attractiveness. The leasing team targeted 3 different kind of tenants on the 3 levels as usual in the commercial units. On the ground level we designed space for high quality and luxury brands, accessories. On this level we maximized the circulation flow coming from main entrance into the central hall. To capture the interest of the shoppers we created attraction points we called “node points”. Initially we advised those points to be a meeting and info point, with a possible extension of using as reading corners or even coffee corners in the future. The node points are vertical attractions going through the 3 levels in the same position, giving a strong landmark for shoppers. Those landmarks are visible from the main hall of the shopping mall as well as from the escalators inside our tenancy areas. On the second and third level we designed more enclosed boutique shops for medium brands and bookstore.

COMFORT

Our main goal during the design to make to shopping experience convenient for the customers. The landmarks we created must be good and effective coordination, meeting points. We designed relaxing, sitting area around the node points combined from moveable, adjustable units. Those units are including mini tables and footstools. The pentagonal shape of the units gives a high diversity of shapes and forms the shoppers can create from the footstools. This way the spaces around the node points are always different as the shoppers moving the units around.

In order to improve the coordination within the 3 levels, we chose 3 different kind of color theme for the landmarks and decorations. Those colors are referring to significant symbols of the nearby local society.

Client : Link Holdings Limited 
Part of Indonesia’s Riau Archipelago, with a short boat ride from the city of Singapore, Bintan island attracts hundred thousand of visitors annually as a resort destination offering secluded beaches and diverse water sports. Located at the east coast of the Bintan Island, the development comprises of a beachfront hotel and water villas. Perched along 240,000-square-foot (5.5 acres) land, the hotel consists of five blocks, an outdoor restaurant, an infinity pool and a rock spa, all designed to fully immerse the guests with nature and panoramic sea view.

Worth-mentioning, at the north end of the development, the rock spa is featured to create a semi-outdoor space for relaxation. “Wavy, rhythmical” pattern is incorporated into the landscape and façade to signify the concept inspired by ocean waves. Moreover, an undulating pathway where 10 water villas can be seen along the way leads to the island which accommodates 5 presidential suites, a themed restaurant and a chapel for special occasions. Constructed of mainly timber which depicts locality and tropical rustic architecture, the hotel and villas can accommodate up to 250 guests.

Cascades is an integrated development consisting of retail mall, commercial and residential located in  Kota Damansara. the Cascades Corporate is a 28-storey corporate office block. Its floor plate area is approximately about 9,500 sf to 12,000 sf.

The Malaysian Global Innovation and Creativity Centre or MaGIC. MaGIC in Cyberjaya is also strategic as the tech city counts 38 multinationals as tenants and almost 800 tech-oriented .

Kota Kinabalu Convention City (KKCC), a world class waterfront integrated development. Convention City Development Sdn Bhd is also entitled to exercise an option for 5.95 acres of adjacent land . 

Client : Ministry of Information, Communications & Culture
The Offices of the Ministry of Information, Communications & Culture is located along the grand circular boulevard of the governmental district of Putrajaya. This formal division of spaces extend vertically within the office building itself. The interiors takes its cues from this hierarchical ordering of spaces and the contemporary fractalization of the Facade, a strong repetitive motif with roots in the ministry’s role as an arbiter of information exchange.

The arrival hall is thus a passage through a journey of light refracted off the surfaces of glass, of stainless steel and the particularization of the iconic barcode motif. As one moves through the building, the design takes on a muted tone with soft colours of beige and grey in tempo with the traditional references in the selection of timber panels and wood-carved furnishings. These subtle cultural references combined with the contemporary language of line & planar surfaces underscore the role the ministry plays in the dissemination of the country’s culture, both traditional and contemporary. Contrast is injected through the occasional brightly coloured artwork. Matching the functional needs of the spaces appropriately, a vibrant, multi-hued palette of colour is used for ancillary spaces such as the children’s play area. 

Client : Affin Bank Berhad
Prominently located on the upper floor of the shopping complex, the Affin Bank at The Curve is the third branch designed to the philosophy of 'Banking Without Borders'. The design reinstates the trademarks of the first prototype design: integrated and custom-designed workspaces, timber accents, water features, a design to facilitate banking processes which depart from the behind-the-counter transactions.

The unique premise of the bank next to a retail lot sparked the idea to make the entrance of the bank an 'alfresco area' laid out with café chairs and tables, in an ironic twist, echoing the extended frontage of the neighbouring café. It was intended that members of the public would mingle with the banking staff here, continuing the ambience of the neighbouring café. Upon entry, one is greeted by a row of teller machines, each with a glazed transparent separation, laid out in a curvilinear configuration. The banking hall terminates in a row of water features overlooking a view of the Mutiara Damansara development. 

Client : Omya Asia Pacific Sdn Bhd
A Swiss based multinational company, Omya Offices at 'The Gardens', Midvalley represents their regional offices. A corporate and international outlook was the image that these offices were to portray for Omya within 3,000 square foot of space. 

A bright and 'efficient' spatial look was the Interior Design concept set out for this project. The contrast between white walls and glass transparency was mainly employed within the spatial play. Only the prominent 'blue' corporate color was played up and interlaced within the predominantly white scheme of the walls and floor. 

This brought about the spaciousness feel of a relatively small office. Cabinets and storage spaces that pop out are cleverly concealed within these walls. And a global map of the company's business is etched on a glass wall that becomes an interior feature. 

Client : WIEF 
WIEF is A offices for the OIC (Organization of Islamic Countries) business network. Despite an Islamic background set up, the offices was to portray a universal and global business nature. 

The Interior Design scheme was based on exclusive corporate identity. The material choices were mainly of fine timber finishes that exudes confidence and power. Refined silk curtains and plush carpet adds to the luxurious feel that these offices were to suggest. 

Islamic motifs are suffused within the general international look thus performing a character that is unique and singular. A sense of 'dignified silence' pervades within these spaces when they are not occupied. 

A modern and minimal element within the cabinetry fitout and fittings of the interior gives a sense of familiarity to these corporate offices. 

Client : Symphony Hill 
Symphony Hills is a new gated community development located in Cyberjaya, comprising 122 superlink houses, townhouses and town villas. This project comprises the interior design of the show units, in a style befitting the design of the architecture. The flooring of the unit is timber, a warm backdrop against which to play. 

To complement the angular lines and modularity of the units, a modern contemporary aesthetic is employed with an earthy palette of beiges, brown and white. The selection of this monochromatic colour scheme provides a neutral backdrop upon which an internplay of light and colour can occur. The minimal abstraction of these spaces are offset by the textural richness of unpainted timber and rattan. The restraint of these elements are further juxtaposed against the occasional playful splash of bright, graphic colours for contrast and delight.

Light City is a mega mixed-development project located on reclaimed land near the Jelutong Expressway. The Light Collection is the name of the 1st phase of the residential component of the development, which is divided into 4 separate parcels, each with a different theme and residential mix. The Light Collection I is one of these parcels. 

Client : Haresh Mehta
The Oval apartment was a high end fit out works for an international client who uses it for holidays and business trips. With 3,000 square feet, it has a full glass façade surround which required much shading and screening. This however also afforded a grand view of KLCC Park with the twin towers in the background. With a private lift lobby, the design concept was modern and contemporary.

Furniture was mostly designer signature series and the soft furnishing were selected luxurious collection. A main feature in the fit out was a revolving row of mirror screen that performs as a flexible space divider. This is to allow more privacy to the tv sitting area which abuts the living space. The colors and hues of the walls were of deep maroon and purple in contrast to the bright marbled floors.

Cascades is an integrated development consisting of retail mall, commercial and residential located in  Kota Damansara. Cascades Residences, the residential component that consists of a 20-storey serviced apartment with built-up size of 561 sf, 1,008 sf, 1,043 sf and 1,138 sf with 1 or 2 bedrooms. There are a total of 266 units.

Experience living within a garden community of equally discerning and select homeowners amidst a lush tropical setting at Glenmarie Gardens. With just 70 exclusive bungalows spread across 26 acres, privacy is most certainly assured. 

Client : Resorts World Bhd.
The lobby of the Genting Hotel is the visitor’s gateway & starting point to one of the most prominent entertainment venues in the country. Laid out within the footprint of a chamfered triangular floor plan, with extended wings housing lounges, a corridor to the spa and other ancillary amenities. A neutral colour palette of beiges and yellow was used to impart warmth to the interior. The double-volume atrium is celebrated with a rose-shaped art feature at the intersection of the ceiling panels.

Tall modesty screens of wavy lines in colours of bronze and gold form the separation buffer between different interior spaces. This cool treatment of this vast arrival space is continued in the intimacy of the actual reception desks, with warm lights and timber paneling. Along the bank of lifts in the lift lobby, these timber panels are clad on the lift calling panels, with shadow coves above. In the Maxim Lounge & Restaurant, cafe furniture is made lavish with contemporary flourishes in their edging detail. 

Client : UDA Holdings
As its namesake suggests, this hotel is situated directly in the Pudu Sentral Complex, in the heart of the bustling bus and train transportation terminal, in the main catering to tourists and people in transit in the Pudu Sentral Station. The hotel’s rooms and public spaces are stacked vertically above most of the transportation related services within the podium of the transportation hub. Visitors take the lift up to the 4th floor to get to the hotel lobby, which also has a direct pedestrian links to the station’s food court. This is an urban hotel without any direct urban interface; all aspects of the hotel’s public spaces connects to the bus station. 

Client : Pulai Springs Resort Sdn. Bhd.
The CintaAyu All-Suites is a 300-unit serviced apartment located within the Pulai Springs Resort, a prominent golfing destination. Built in the 1980s, the original building plan was drawn along stylistic cues from the traditional Malay kampong. In keeping with the times, the client called for an updated interior without modifying too much, the basic architectural elements. The resulting re-design is therefore an abstraction of the vernacular Malay style, softened by contemporary accents and warm lighting. References to the Malay Kampong is further elaborated upon by bringing inside elements usually found outdoors such as loose pebble finishes in the public areas. Timber features added to the stone and marble palette, beige tone fabrics and potted tropical plantings impart warmth to the spaces. 

Client : Mutiara Rini Sdn. Bhd
VERITAS was in charged of the concept and design of this modern 3-star themed business hotel which consists of 200 units room and a presidential suites. Services also includes the reception areas, lounge, business centre and spa centre. Adjacent to the new shopping mall, The Curve, this hotel is located at the burgeoning commercial area of Mutiara Damansara, Selangor. 

Client : Malaysia Airlines System Bhd
The 70,000sf lounge comprises 3 different lounges : Golden Club, First Class and Platinum Lounges. Passengers arrive at a central welcoming lobby where they are then directed to their respective lounges. The design intent was to subtly maintain the separation required for the 3 lounges while providing extensive visual connections so as to create a sense of spaciousness and luxury and downplay the "hierarchy". The long screen wall that separates the 2 main lounges is broken down into pieces of natural stone walls alternating with full-height glass, all set in a long water feature lined with washed pebbles, that provides a natural edge effect to evoke the "river bank" reminiscent of the "kampung" setting.

Novotel is a mid-scale hotel brand with a wide network of hotels & resorts across the world. Novotel Chittagong adheres to the branding and by extension of that, the design methodology of its international predecessors to strengthen the recognizability of its brand.

Client : Sibco Hospitality Private Limited
With his passion for the 4S's, Sun, Sand, Sea and Surf, our own David Hashim coined the words 'A Slice of Paradise' on this project. Thus began one of our more exciting and very original customized design ideas for this boutique resort. It's location, one of the most iconic paradise destination, is The Maldives. The island is small at 6 hectares but consist of all the idealistic elements for a beach resort. The resort consists of 56 units of suites varying between 350-450 sft. It will have amenities such as dinning, bar, diving and all other water sports activities. The concentric focus for the 'Slice of Paradise' concept emanates from the guest room point of reference itself, the bed to be exact.

The view towards the beach (sand), sea will be focused by the architectural elements, such as the extruded flanking walls of the rooms. Not only will this create a sense of unity with paradise by spatial extension, the openness of the bath which is out at the balcony, has a metaphorical sense of 'nakedness' which hopefully infuses a presence of being at one with nature. The task of the interior is thus left to enhance this experience with much raw finishes applied towards a cozy and comfortable interior. Raw and polished cement for floor and bed platform.

Solid timber with trunk profiles are used as vanity tops with hand painted stucco finishes to walls to exude and compliment the natural look. Loose items and fittings are singular design elements in itself which are themed along the modern but vernacular. As for the more public areas, the Dining area floor is laced with sand finish which is open to the surrounding view on 3 sides. As highlight, the Sunset bar sits afloat on water with a very vernacular interior look. Bamboo rafters on concrete pillars feature prominently here with an open 360 degree view of the sea surrounding it. This resort is scheduled to complete by 2019. 

Client : Don Chan Hotel
This interior refurbishment proposal is for Don Chan Hotel, Vientiane Laos. Proposal for the indoor coffeehouse has a rich French colonial style interior. The outdoor coffeehouse design is fresh and light. 

Client : Troika SkyDining
Changing vistas of KLCC unfolds as one meanders through this complex of restaurants linked by bridges hovering 24-storeys high. Combining exposed steel beams and raw fair-face concrete walls with black lacquered steel surfaces and richly-veined Venetian marble, the ambience evoke a confident urban chic with a bold industrial touch, to create moments of surprise along the route which links the separately themed restaurants and bars. A dramatic open stairs in black-painted steel and local timber, spirals up to the informal Italian bistro with an exposed pizza oven and open show-kitchen. Terracotta floor tiles and copper trims on the furniture create warm traditional undertones. 

Client : Eon Properties Sdn Bhd 
Largest Audi showroom in Asia showcasing all Audi models with the most modern service centre facilities. Concept and design were devised as standard from Audi Germany and design translation was interpreted by VERITAS through local materials and climate conditions.
