The landscape design studio at VERITAS Architects Vietnam proposed resort like gardens inspires by local food and eating traditions for Habitat Phase 2. Habitat is the residential project by VSIP (Vietnam Singapore Industrial Parks) and Sembcorp from Singapore. Habitat provides low, medium and high-end apartments for workers, managers and their family members. Habitat Phase 2 is a mid-end level with limited facilities, connected to the existing club house and providing dry and wet play areas for all ages.

The project title was an enhancement of landscape for the existing main roads of the residential development. After analyzing the existing landscape together with the client we concluded that the solution is a series of sculptures. The landscape cultures should increase the attractiveness of developments and improve the lighting alongside the main roads. The main idea was to place objects into the landscape which are integrated into the landscape scene on an organic way. However they should be interesting enough and visible from far distances a landmarks. The main concept was to build landscape creatures growing around the existing trees, embracing the landscape and mirroring the greenery. The location of the sculptures could also be changed by the time.

As lighting sculptures alongside the road one of our challenge was no to disturb the vehicular traffic. The LED lighting we hid behind opaque acrylic panels and we designed tree up-lights to bright up the shapes from outside. The client brief was to create modern emblematic symbols for their development. Also the colors should be reflecting to corporate colors of the investor’s brand and the color scheme of the development. By using different modules we created special experience for the observers moreover the shapes of sculptures are irregular, some even carries anthropomorphic attributes.

With the material of sculptures we created an optical illusion to integrate the sculpture more into the landscape. The sculpture are made from modules. The modular shape allowed us to increase the diversity of the sculptures without increasing the construction cost. We used 3 type of modules: frames, solids and mirroring. The some if the solid modules we equipped with LED lights inside. Altering the solid, frame and mirroring surfaces gives the optical illusion of the observer like the object was more integrated into the landscape, growing together with the tree or even some part is flying without any support.

Using modules was not only an aesthetically reason but economic too. All together we designed 16 sculptures alongside the main roads of Celadoncity. All of them has a unique look. The same idea could not be efficient by designing and building 16 totally different sculptures. The materials like steel, mesh and acrylic panels are simple and often used for lighting signages in Vietnam. A local contractor easily could reproduce and install our sculptures.

Client : Boustead Holdings Bhd
One Cochrane Residences development is one of the project that emphasize landscape as an important component in the development. The sales gallery for One Cochrane Development shall reflect the same to give the impression where the landscape is designed to be the spine of the development. One Cochrane Sales Gallery is built along the same road at Jalan Cochrane on a 2 acre site.

The landscape area occupies half of the site with most of the areas are planted with green except the driveway and the multipurpose sports court. The entrance of the sales gallery is anchored by a feature tree species call Murraya paniculata with a Metallico quartz feature wall. Once the visitor enter and pass the perforated gate they will be welcomed by a lush planting island with series of sculptures before arriving at the drop off. The children play area and central courtyard flanking the covered walkway before the visitors entering the sales gallery gives a pleasant journey to the visitors. Water features component with outdoor decking area provided for the visitors to enjoy the landscape for a more relaxed atmosphere. 

Client : Mudajaya
Landscape has been a major planned component in the development. All sideways and perimeter allowance of green patches makes the overall cosy view in the garden even with very tight space within the site. Each of bungalow not missed with any tree clusters, plus with the climbers on the wall and fence to ensure green scenery of each houses.

The centrepiece of the development is the swimming pool with water weir, surrounded with cascading landscape area giving articulate design to the site topography and to the buildings. The approach to the landscape design of modern contemporary influence blended together with architectural setting. Perimeter green are are a mixture of natural slopes with cascading planter boxes which claiming back the green space which occupied by caisson retaining wall. 

Client : Nusajaya Development Sdn Bhd (subsidary of UEM Sunrise) 
Idaman Residence is a service apartment development principally comprising residential component in the nearby emerging township of Nusa Idaman which is part of Nusajaya, Johor. With development plot size of 9.7 acres and 400 units of resident unit, the need for recreation and green space are totally essential. The main landscape area and facilities are dazed at the center of development to ensure maximize usage of facilities and landscape gardens. Landscape and it’s facilities are physically= and visually grasp for residents convenience.

The development and the approach to the landscape design with affluence of modern contemporary design blended together with architectural setting promotes harmony to the overall setting. Perimeter dense planting creates enclosure to the inner site which gives serene environment within the development. Podium area where the swimming pool and most of the outdoor facilities located is design to cater resident needs and possibilities of creating multi-functional space which encourage social interaction within the communities. 

Client : SIME UEP
The Isola Towers consist of two towers, they are oriented North and South, with views towards the neighbouring golf courses as well as the Subang Jaya cityscape. Each tower offers an array of unit types (8 types), each accommodating to different demands of the consumers. A typical floor consists of 7-8units. This concept gives a sense of  'privacy' and exclusiveness, unparalleled by other developments in the area.

At every three floors, triple volume spaces are carved out from the towers to create sky gardens for the inhabitants of the nearby floors. Here residents may socialise amidst lush landscaped gardens and enjoy breath-taking views of the surroundings. Common facilities include a gymnasium, saunas, swimming pool, BBQ pits, café, mini-market, games room, children playground, common room, basket ball court, multi-purpose hall and management office. In addition, the multiple basement car park provides each unit with a minimum of two car parks. 

Client : Leisure Farm 2016
Leisure Farm Resort is located in Johor Bahru. This project is collaboration with international Landscape Architecture firm L49. The resort consists of private residence, detached housing and condominium. The scopes of works for the landscape design area are the main entrance and the sales gallery. The main concept of the design area is leisure, farm, and resort.

The landscape approach is to enhance the visual using a vibrant color of planting, enhance the activities for social space and enhance the life for human quality of life. The design criteria of the sculpture for the project signature are elegantly prominent, airy and compromise to guard house structure as secondary subject. The main entrance is emphasizing the iconic landmark where it will provide the sense of arrival which have a good visibility and memorable structure. The sale gallery main concept is more to natural settings where it emphasizes to the farm, flora and fauna and the view. 

Client : Masteri Thao Dien 
Masteri Thao Dien is a project which has a very low building density combined with lush green landscape and high-end facilities such as internal park, BBQ area, swimming pool, gymnasium, sauna, international restaurant and cafe area. The development act as a miniature resort between the city. It takes just a few minutes’ walk from the city center via Hanoi Highway, adjacent to the An Phu Metro Station (No.7 Station). 

Client : Private Residence
Positioned on two plots of land, the brief is set out to design for a single family’s private dwelling located in the prime residential zone of Putrajaya. VERITAS’ involvement in this project have included architecture, interior design and landscape to which a whole land plot is specifically dedicated for landscape design. The concept for this estate is developed from an initial classical architecture outlook to a more contemporary-classic villa with a dash of industrial elements thrown in; where the usage of face bricks and off-form concrete can be observed throughout the façade.

A linear lap pool is strategically positioned at the centre of the house, splitting the floor plan into two separate uses to define the formal and in-formal areas. The building is spatially designed to cater for the user’s needs with the inclusion of exclusive amenities such as the gym/hobby room, AV room and a golf room. Magnificent views can be enjoyed by the inhabitants both internally and externally. Apart from the vast greenery of landscape surrounding the abode, with a designated area for growing local fruit orchards on the second land parcel, the house is also strategically oriented to face a spectacular view of the Putra Mosque and the Putrajaya Palace.
