Tapah Education City (TEC) is one of the key Economic Catalyst Project identified as a new economic growth area that will be developed within the NCER (North Corridor Economic Region) for Southern Perak Region or Wilayah Perak Selatan (WPS) by the Perak Development Corporation or Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Perak (PKNP).
The master plan covers approximately 3,500 acres whereby 650 acres will be dedicated to high skilled education branch campuses and multi-varsity campuses, and the remaining will be a full-fledged education city development township. TEC envisions to be the hub to nurture high skilled industry ready workforce through traditional and experiential and simulated learning method. TEC shall be focusing on campuses that offer sectors for services (digital and tourism) and manufacturing (automotive, medical devices, aerospace, E&E and M&E).
TEC conceptual master plan is developed based on structured guiding framework, addressing holistic development requirements, which aims to be a community of innovators within a vibrant and self-sustaining campus town. Its key themes and principles outlined are well thought envisioning TEC to be the leader in high skilled education hub, connected via digitally enabled campus and green transport approach, openness with shared facilities amongst students, experience through public realms, and creating legacy with buildings that are design with excellence.
